Diana debut!

So, I helped style D last night.  It was like old times when we use to go out; we'd meet up at my house before hand to get all dolled up.  She's gorgeous so this really wasn't difficult.  Here's the top JP Higgy and I scored on Thursday night at Forever 21 and the pants are an oldie but goodie gifted to me from my brother in the early 90's.  I asked him this morning if they qualify as vintage, he let out a huge laugh and a dead panned no.

Sweet...

Not so sweet
I know the above pictures are the same pose but look how her facial expression changes everything.  D knows how to pose but then again we've been doing club poses for around 20 years now.  It was hot last night and D has A LOT of hair which she decided would be best suited for a bun, I agree.  You usually have to try things on at Forever 21 because you really can't tell the size of things by the size but it looks like this shirt was made for her.  These are her Jessica Simpson heels that I j'adore on her.  She's tan from all that hanging out in the baseball stands watching that gorgeous man child of her's doing what he does best.  Her jewelry is adorable, the earrings are very urban delish and the bracelet is simple but stunning.

Our first stop was The Cloud on Congress and our second stop was Casona.  We had a fabulous time at both places.  I can't wait to hit them both up again soon.

D was wearing makeup last night which she doesn't do often but it looks so nice on her.  It's good to see her do something for herself sometimes.  She's a great mom and always there for everyone, I'm glad I could take her away and help her to let loose even if it's just for one night.

Mall run!

Hit up the mall on Thursday this week hunting for a top for Diana's birthday celebration on Friday.  Thanks to my little friend JP Higgy for dealing with my zaniness during the process.  Of course we stopped at PF Chang early on and got a Chinese 88 drink (gin and champagne) and some crab rangoon.  Anyone who knows me knows I love me some crab rangoon and PF Chang does it right.  It's probably so bad for me but until it hurts me physically I'm going to eat it til' I can't any more, YOLO!

This is Thursday's outfit, a little Zara dress that I picked up in San Francisco for around $75 bucks.  I would never normally pay that much for a dress but this one I couldn't let pass.  It's much cuter in person, I feel like the dress details didn't show up like they could've.  I'll rock it again in another style and perhaps I can really showcase it.  This is usually what I call my 4 hour dress because I usually wear it to baby/bridal showers or short functions.  Yes, I'm still carrying this bag because I love the space and won't compromise that when I drag my camera out of the house.  Thanks again to JP Higgy for taking this picture.  We were in front of Louis Vuitton, one day I will venture in there but I'm afraid I have no will power so as it stands I'm staying out.  I can drool from the windows though.

First stop, of course Anthro.  I've stopped calling it by it's full name here because we all know what I'm referring too.  In any case, I saw this cute girl with all of this beautiful body art.  I love tats, so long as they're tasteful and beautiful and these tats just reminded me of all things Japanese.  She didn't want me to get her face which is fine.  Peep my card in her hand, I really hope to see her again as she was simply adorable.  Antro brings people together!  Okay, maybe just me and people...not all people.

Here's the shirt we finally decided on for D, found it at Forever 21.  I don't normally go in Forever 21 because I'm not forever 21 and it's crowded and loud and I'm getting too old for crowded and loud but sometimes it doesn't hurt to check it out.  After Thursday's visit I think I'm going to check it out more often.  This cutie was $25 bucks and the back is sheer.  That's JP Higgy hiding behind it.  He's such a great fashion assistant, he never let me give up even when the Chinese 88's were hitting a new low.

I completely forgot about my earrings that I got for $4.80 at Forever 21.  Not sure if you know this about me but I don't have pierced ears, therefore I like to find cheap earrings that I can transform for my non-pierced ears.  I take a normal scissors and snip off the hook then I just put on these slides which come in silver or gold tone.  You can find these slides at Fire Mountain Gems and Beads.

Stripes and dots

Today's outfit was a weird little concoction.  I had this skirt in my closet for a while from Antho, got it for maybe $30 bucks.  I believe I wore it in a previous post to a wake.  I coveted it for so long and finally got it; I'm so glad I took the plunge.  Stalked this shirt forever too.  It was originally $98 which just didn't seem right to me.  It's barely a shirt, but it is silk so I guess that's what I would be paying for.  Found it for $19.95 with 25% off this week, basically got it for $15 bucks.  Imagine my surprise and sheer happiness at finally making it mine.  They don't go together but I guess they do in a way that seems acceptable.

They're both blue...perhaps that's the connection!  These shoes are Arturo Chiang and they're from Lord & Taylor for around $45 bucks on sale.  You can really pick up some quality shoes from L&T, again stalking is in order.  I needed something nude to go with just about everything and the heel height is perfect for work; even if I have to wear flip flops to drive.

The bow on the neck of this shirt is really what sold me.  I can hook this top up with a lot of different things, from jeans to skirts to shorts.  I gotta keep my ass out of the stores though cause I'm bout to go broke!!!!  Okay, maybe not broke but really close.

Shout out to my mom for taking my pictures over the last couple of days.  It was really difficult to direct the photo shoot and be the model but we made it work.  Thanks again mom.!!!

Green dreaming...

I'm going to try really hard to take pictures almost everyday to share with whomever is interested.  Yesterday, I wore my absolute favorite color of green.  I swear I'm always on the hunt for green items, from clothing to shoes to iPhone covers.  If I could live my life in green I'd be a happy lady.

This top is from Uniqlo in NYC, found it for less than $30 bucks.  I love stripes and I love green...what more can a lady like?  This skirt is one of the first skirts I bought from Anthro for around $30 bucks, it might have been the start of my love affair with that place.  The necklace...that's right Anthro, got it for around $15 bucks on sale and the shoes are so old from the Shoe Bar in Avon which is now closed.  I have no idea how much I paid for the shoes, probably around $20 bucks.  I think they're a 7.5 and you all know I'm upwards to an 8.5 but it's weird I have feet that seems to fit all shoe sizes...unless it's a 6 of course.  Oh, that's my kitty kat Effie, she really wanted to get in the picture.

Aaron

I know I've said that this man child of Diana's should be a model, I'm just going to say it one final time...maybe.  I was just scrolling through my pics and came upon this, I mean really.

I love the fact that Aaron never has a problem posing for me.

Zula

Hung out last Thursday at Zula with my girl Erin listening to some really nice Jazz music.  The food is good and the space is modern.  Tasneem is working on growing her business, let's support her if we can please.  They have this drink called the Zulatini, talk about a strong drink...I love a good, drink!!!

I hit up Nine West last Wednesday because I was coveting yet another shoe.  I saw this green little number two weeks ago and noted that I didn't need another green shoe.  But these were like none other, I had to have them and they were only $50 bucks.  So I went back...

I was basically just trying to find something to go with these lovely shoes.  These babies are pretty comfy too; I know surprising right?  I came up with a shirt I bought a long time ago and barely wore because I just don't know what to do with it.  The shirts not so bad though, I'll incorporate it more.  Of course, the top and skirt I wore are from Anthro.  I mean, I just can't quit Anthro!  I was talking to one of the sales associates about it.  I try to go to other stores, they just don't do it for me anymore.  The store is just all very quirky and I love quirky.  I'm going to try to shop other places...or just stop shopping all together.  Wasn't that the whole point of this blog in the first place?  Geez, where's my head?  Talk about no willpower!!!

Both the top and skirt were pretty cheap.  Probably around $30 a piece.  I stalk stuff in that store...hard.  Stalking is the only thing you can do to dress well in that store.

Diana posed me for this as she rolled through downtown on her way home.  She makes me do cutesie stuff when I pose, I would normally just stand there.  Thanks girl!  Big ups to the gentleman that let me lean on his car, sorry about the fingerprints. ;-)

This is the Cole Hahn bag I got from Rocio's bag party.  It's the only bag I'm using right now because my camera fits.  I can't even deal with using a small bag, I tried but I'm just not a little bag type of lady.  I seem to carry so much stuff but it's all stuff I need.

Bocca con't...

Hey ya'll, it's been a while since my last post.  I've been tied up lately, trying to do too many things at one time.  I need to be cloned or something cause my blog is suffering and that's the LAST thing I want.  This is my therapy after all, right?

In my haste I failed to finish my Bocca Rosa post.  I didn't even put in the pics of my girls.  What was I thinking????!!!!

We had big fun that night, I'm going to have to check out the new Cloud nights on Friday evenings.  Of course, Dana Dane and Ronn P will be in the building.  Those men know they can DJ!!!!

Here's little Jenny from the block.  She's adorable right???  I don't remember being this tiny even when I was tiny.  This little lady is color coordinated to a T.  I have to dig through this closet of mine to see if I have anything that will fit her little self.  Love, love, love this top.  If I didn't have these melons I would rock it...but I do so I'll spare the small children and old people the shock!  It fits her style and personality perfectly!

I wore my J Brand jeans and this cute top I got from Anthro for $20 bucks.  I would break down my outfit but I didn't take pictures of everything so no point right?  I do have an old picture of my shoes cause clearly you can't see my feet with these pants...but again look how long my short legs look!!!

Picked up these beauties at Marshall's after lusting after them in the Anthropologie catalog for about a month.  These babies were upwards to around $300 and I just felt that was a ridiculous price for a pair of shoes that don't protect your feet entirely.  I mean, don't get me wrong I'll pay $300 bucks for boots for the winter but I just couldn't see doing it for sandals no matter how much I love and covet them.  So, to ease my shopping sadness I was strolling through Marshall's and low and behold there these beauties were just waiting to be snapped up!  These babies were all of $80 bucks which I still find to be steep but worth every penny.  Of course they hurt like crazy, especially in the heat...sometimes I wish I could just go barefoot it would save me so much pain.
